Facts and stats
Global is a British media company. As a commercial radio operator, it is the largest in the UK and owns many of the best-known brands. It is also a music publisher and talent company in the UK and US, operates music television channels, and owns and operates the Global Academy University Technology College in Hayes.
Global grew by purchasing the Chrysalis Radio group in 2007, then the merged operations of GWR Group plc and Capital Radio plc in 2008. It has since acquired other companies and stations. It sold a number of its stations to Communicorp UK to comply with competition law, though continues to own the brand, supply the stations with national programming, and represent the stations to national advertisers.
A family business, Global was initially financially funded by the businessman and racehorse-owner, Michael Tabor. His son, Ashley Tabor, has run the company since it started, and is currently Founder and Executive President.
