We are now looking to continue our expansion with the formation of a digital news team, based in London.

Responsibilities The Digital Broadcast Journalist will work directly to the Digital News Editor and with other members of the News Team.

You will be researching, producing and voicing broadcast quality bulletins and written features in news, current affairs, entertainment and sports for distribution on audioBoom app, website and content partner sites. Your voice and skills will help make up the tone and style of audioBoom’s content offering. Using audio from the site and elsewhere, you will identify and create engaging features for our users and partners.

Daily responsibilities will include creating breaking news bulletins, feature bulletins and creating imaginative sharable content for audioBoom and social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Storify, Buzzfeed, Playbuzz, ThingLink etc. You will need strong editorial judgement and an ability to understand what content works best in-app, online and on different social media platforms. Additionally you will need to react to breaking news, with the ability to act fast and turn around relevant content in the correct format. A strong awareness of current affairs on a national and international level is important, along with an ability to follow complex issues on the news and sports agenda and spot relevant developments.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience as a broadcast journalist/producer.
  • A journalism degree or equivalent relevant qualification
  • The ability to inspire and work with others
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • A great knowledge of current affairs, culture and sports
  • Good eye for what content works best online and why: a strong news sense is essential and a creative approach to social media
  • Sound knowledge of UK media law
  • Excellent audio editing, sub-editing and use of appropriate images to enhance online content.
  • Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines

Working Hours/Conditions You will be based at our London Bridge office. You will work through the week on a daytime rota basis. Weekend work will also sometimes be required, with two days off a week in another part of the week.
