A MOOC - a Massive Online Open Course - has been announced focusing on Transnational Radio Stories. It's a re-run of a successful course last year, which investigates the interaction between radio's strengths in storytelling, as well as radio's cross-border, international reach.

Last year, researches and radio producers from over twenty countries met online to "learn and discuss how radio shapes identity, how it tells stories, what constitutes the sound of radio – and how all this can be analyzed with the methods of radio research", say the organisers; and they're running the course again from September 21.

The MOOC Transnational Radio Stories is free, and has no requirements for access. Anyone who is interested may sign up on their website. The course runs from September 21st until November 16th 2015 and will be completely online.

Students may complete the course with a certificate and gain 5 ECTS credits, which are valid education credits across the European Union. (There's a €50 administration fee to issue the ECTS certificate).

Additions to the course for this year include an international team of radio researchers and practitioners, providing the basics of radio studies and insights into current research.

The MOOC Transnational Radio Stories is a project by the Online Radio masters programme at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (pictured above). It is developed in cooperation with partners from the HERA-funded research project Transnational Radio Encounters, and with additional authors from the international radio research community under the scientific lead of PD Dr. Golo Föllmer.
