Junior Producer

A full-time creative job at Morning Show Project in London, United Kingdom
Posted 30 March 2015, 9.59am edt

An exciting, weekdaily online YouTube series is coming soon - a brand new format that is yet to be attempted in the UK - and we want you to produce it.

Created and hosted by YouTubers Charlie McDonnell ‘charlieissocoollike’ and James Hill ‘jimmy0010’ (2.5 million subscribers combined), and executively produced by Hank and John Green, creators of Vlogbrothers, Crash Course, Sci Show, and many other successful YouTube formats that reach an audience of millions worldwide.

A dynamic, teen orientated studio show, taking inspiration from breakfast radio and the CBBC Broom Cupboard, our plan is to make unmissable, destination content that gets people talking; based on features, games, challenges, facts, opinions, and as much viewer interaction as possible.

As the producer, you will form a key part of the show. Working closely with Charlie and Jimmy, you’ll assist with all aspects of production, from ideas and scripting right through to getting the show online. The Hermione to our Harry and Ron. (Magical abilities encouraged but not required).

Responsibilities will include: ideas generation, assisting in the studio with camera and lighting, editing the show, creating graphics, uploading episodes, inputting metadata, social media support, contacting and liaising with guests and sourcing props/resources.

A successful candidate will need to have as much knowledge of traditional media, particularly radio, as they do of new media. They must be able to help come up with compelling features and ideas, and know how to sell them in the competitive world of YouTube. They will need to be technically competent, and have the computer skills required for running a YouTube channel.

This role would be best suited to somebody new to the media industry, or a recent graduate, although you must have some experience creating content for YouTube, radio or youth TV.

Based in our studio in South East London, you will grow with the creators and the business and help develop the show. The role will be shaped by the successful candidate, could be part time or full time, and would start in April.

Skills/experience required:

  • Excellent knowledge of YouTube and YouTubers.
  • Experience creating content; be that YouTube videos, student radio, or broadcast TV.
  • A love of youth entertainment.
  • Creative, with a background in radio and television production/development.
  • Good knowledge of camera operation.
  • Competent editing with FCP or Premiere.
  • Ideally experienced in Photoshop and After Effects (not vital).
  • Comfortable using Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Good writing skills; able to script and produce copy for social media and YouTube.
  • Organised and able to source props, contact guests and manage time.
  • Responsible and hard working.
  • Enthusiastic and excited by the prospect of being part of the show!

Thank you for your interest in being part of our project, and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

  • Jimmy & Charlie
