Sputnik UK is seeking a self-motivated, creative, and technically proficient radio engineer to join its team in Edinburgh . The individual will be responsible for installing and maintaining radio, audio, and other equipment associated with radio broadcasting including Wheatstone components, codecs, computers, peripheral equipment, mixers and other sound recording and broadcasting studio equipment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for office equipment, news room computer systems, data networks and broadcast transmission equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the engineering design and assist with the building and installation of electronic systems/equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain and repair of studio production equipment.
  • Provide technical support to operational users.
  • Consult and communicate with engineering management and other engineers on technical issues as required.
  • Perform all technical work to engineering standards and practices.
  • Develop knowledge of facility specific IT needs and support these systems.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a broadcast-related technology field and minimum three years’ professional experience, or any equivalent combination of professional experience and education.
  • Be able to work efficiently without direct supervision as well as with other departments receiving and communicating instructions via telephone or in person.
  • Be able to read and understand technical materials.
  • Able to set priorities under pressure of deadlines.
  • Flexible hours and shifts, including On-Call, Weekends and Holidays
  • Must be flexible to accommodate shift changes including on-call, extended hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge and competency in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and LAN/WAN networking
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft and Mac operating systems

Welcomed

  • Onsite work experience with sound recording and broadcasting equipment;
  • Hands-on experience with Wheatstone, Telos, Avid.
