Purpose of the role: The Editor should maintain editorial content to the ethos, values and broad orthodox Christian theological spectrum of Premier Youthwork and Premier Childrenswork magazines so the content across digital and print appeal to those involved in youth and children’s ministry at professional or voluntary levels.

Key Tasks:

  • Be the spokesperson and brand champion of youth and children’s work across all Premier platforms.
  • Be the brand ambassador for Premier Youthwork and Premier Childrenswork internally and externally representing the brands through input and speaking engagements.
  • Develop strategies to input into key youth and children’s work events/conference and other magazine related conferences, events.
  • Work with others to develop a philosophical framework for youth and children and family ministry.
  • Oversee and manage editorial staff and designers.
  • Edit, sub edit, commission, curate and create content for across both titles to a high standard.
  • Ensure that all editorial/print costs are kept within budget.
  • Liaise with designer(s) to ensure timely and high quality magazine design in print and digital formats.
  • Commission, curate and create content which will work across platforms to extend reach and profile of youth and children’s work content and brands – including articles, blogs, videos.
  • Liaise with the digital team to create content calendars for youth and children’s work content which will be used online including social media sites to maximise audience engagement and general traffic with online and print versions of the brands.
  • Commission and edit new youth, children and all age curriculum material for digital platforms.
  • Ensure there is fresh relevant content posted to relevant websites daily
  • Liaise with the marketing department to identify and implement strategies which grow the circulation.
  • Liaise with sales to provide regularly updated magazine grids, discuss and develop advertising leads and agree on an ad friendly feature in each issue.
  • Oversee the timely despatch of good quality copy to design, proof pages and sign off the magazine according to the agreed monthly deadlines and schedules.
  • Provide a weekly report to the Content Director identifying key achievements, problems, meetings and progress against KPIs.
  • Liaise regularly with the Content Director who should consult over any changes to editorial policy and over major commissions or new projects.
  • Alongside the Content Director to seek out and develop relationships with denominations/organisations/distributors to develop increased sales and/ or bulk orders. Also to network and build on relationships with existing bulk order contacts.
  • Liaise with consultants, consulting editors and contributors to build strong links and promote the brands effectively.
  • Attend where appropriate marketing or editorial meetings.
