Let's get acquainted?

I promise there won't be much of such topics.
Sorta homecoming, huh?:)
I'm a foreigner - so I'll be a kind of moderator (in the media sense). Though I'll tell you that I'm in Russia, Moscow region (north boundary of it); I'm not in the media business...
How did it happen I'm here? Well, first of all, quite long ago it appeared I was becoming a sort of Angloman (as it's called here), then, not so long ago - at an age of thirty-something - I successfully entered a local university to study English and linguistics.
Well, I didn't think about linguistics as such when I applied - rather I wanted to learn a good English. However, I became very much interested in linguistics then.
I didn't finish for some reasons, still I can speak - to an extent, and I consider linguistics my specialty.
So, to better learn English, I started searching for native English broadcast on the Internet, among other things. Started with BBC World Service, eventually I dismissed it for some reasons, and turned to BBC locals and then various other local stations throughout the UK.
I came to like local broadcast - speech, local programmes/news... Well, enough for now - if you wanna get in some detail, you can ask me later.

So, the first question will be an auxiliary one: are there any more foreigners here - just in case there are

Now to the point: if you're not a secret agent, would you care to introduce yourselves somehow?
Like where you are there, are you a listener or in the business? What are your listening preferences: like mostly local radio? or national/regional? Which radiogenre do you prefer now - is it speech? music? news? drama? sport?
What should your ideal (fictional or not) radiostaion sound like?

Well, I did think about linguistics as such when I applied...

Oops! There should be "I didn't" there. I hope James will introduce editing/previewing soon enough.

A moderator edited that, thank you very much.

I think the word you're looking for in English Josh is "Anglophile"

Hello, Andrew Garner! You too reached the Top 5 editors!;-)
I reckon we've a lull in editing now? Why? The elections? The VE anniversary? Both?
