The other stations are branded as Q with networking between all of the stations. Currently Citybeat is 100% locally produced from Belfast. Clearly there are cost savings to be made, yet I wonder if Northern Media Group will make an exception for Citybeat as the station is now their largest in a TSA with many competitiors, unlike in their other TSA's where it's them and Downtown.

If I were them, I'd make Q headquartered in Belfast: easier for attracting talent, advertisers and guests. Citybeat has done well in a difficult market, but Q is a neutral brand. Citybeat is a brand that can't work outside Belfast, and Downtown will always have a Belfast bias (real or perceived). Q comes with a good local pedigree outside Belfast, but could work well within Belfast too.

Citybeat's been relatively innovative with what they've been doing, and I suspect if Q is clever they'll retain the good people there behind the scenes. Mind, I said that about Absolute.

Shame to see this station taken over by them as they have ruined a lot of other local stations it taken on in last few years. Plus citybeat is known in Belfast and they won't want Q up there as they know its not from Belfast. Q currently doesn't have coverage in Belfast and introducing it may lose thousands of listeners.
