Broadcast Journalist – The Wave

Location: Swansea

Wireless Group is a leading UK and Irish media company, which is wholly owned by News Corp UK and Ireland Limited.

The group operates 23 leading radio brands across the UK and Ireland. These include market leading stations embedded in their local communities as well as popular national brands such as talkSPORT, the world's biggest sports radio station, talkRADIO and Virgin Radio. What we’re looking for-:

An experienced multi-media journalist with a passion for radio and online content creation.

You will be based in our studios in Swansea, but will be expected to cover stories from across the South West Wales region and beyond.

We are the only Wireless radio station in Wales so will at times get the opportunity to share our stories with our sister stations. Recently our County Lines investigative reports featured on TalkRADIO.

It’s a challenging role that will involve finding and developing stories in our local communities, working to tight deadlines and responding to breaking news.

You will be working with a talented group of people who really care about what they do. We are an award-winning news team picking up the IRN Campaigning Journalism Award in 2018 and named Wireless News Team of the Year 2018.

You will need:

  • NCBTJ qualification
  • A full driving licence
  • Great voice and writing skills
  • Good working knowledge of media law
  • Experience of working on a busy news desk - both reading bulletins and reporting
  • Ability to create engaging online content and social media posts
  • Knowledge of Welsh related issues – ability to pronounce Welsh place names
