Job Description

BROADCAST JOURNALIST

We are looking for an experienced Broadcast Journalist for a key role in Global Radio’s news team. You will be creative, have a fantastic voice and great writing skills, to produce exciting content for regional news bulletins on Heart, Smooth and Capital. You’ll also be involved in creating Welsh content for Global’s national brands, LBC and Classic FM.

What we expect of you

You will have a journalism qualification, and experience of broadcasting both live and pre-recorded news bulletins. You should have a good understanding of the region in which you are working and the key issues facing that region.

You will be able to create original news content that will appeal to our target audiences. You’ll also make sure that everything you do is compliant with legal and broadcast regulations, and consistent with Global’s values and standards.

You’ll be using a full range of multi-media tools to research, write, and edit local online news, as well as creating engaging content on our Twitter accounts complete with videos and audio links.

A full, clean UK Driving License is essential.

What you'll be doing

We want you to be passionate about news, and eager to investigate and create your own unique and exclusive stories.

You will be confident working on your own and under the guidance of your Regional News Editor to provide on-target, agenda-setting news content.

You will have a commanding on-air presence across our brand portfolio, whether providing live input on LBC, delivering regional bulletins or presenting Heart’s Nightly News programme.
