UCB is looking for an experienced broadcast journalist to join the News Team on a fixed term contract at the Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent.

UCB includes two Christian radio stations available on digital radio, online and the UCB Player app. To strengthen our news coverage during a period of maternity leave we are looking for a new member of the News Team. You will need a good voice for radio, an understanding of Broadcast Law, suitable journalistic experience and you will be expected to have a working knowledge of Christian organisations and Church activity in the UK and abroad.

The role will involve news reading, recording/editing, reporting, two-way features with presenters and sourcing original stories for a range of radio programmes. You will also know how to utilise social media to communicate UCB News. Your shift pattern may vary from week to week, Monday to Friday, working in conjunction with other colleagues; you will also be required to work additional hours in order to provide cover for absences within the Team.

Your ability to write for radio needs to be excellent. You will need to demonstrate your experience of broadcast journalism and provide examples of original stories that you have generated. You will be expected to adhere to United Christian Broadcasters’ vision and purpose and be a strong team player able to provide a distinctive service of news from a Christian perspective.
