Wish FM, Tower FM and Wire FM have a combined broadcast to a potential audience of over a million people across Wigan, St Helens, Bolton, Bury, Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn. We’re looking to replace a member of our news team to deliver the stories that are important to our audience.
We are looking for an experienced journalist who can create engaging content both on air, and online.
You will be based in our studios in Wigan, but will also spend plenty of time out and about covering stories across the North West.
We won't lie - it's a challenging role that will involve finding and developing stories in our local communities, working to tight deadlines, and responding calmly and quickly to breaking news.
But no two days will ever be the same, and you will be working with an amazing group of people who really care about what they do.
In fact, our team has received nominations at the IRN Awards for our interviews and reports both in News and Sport.
We are looking for someone as passionate as we are about news, who can use their initiative to produce first-class stories.
You will need:
A journalism qualification
A full driving licence
Great voice and writing skills
Good working knowledge of media law
Experience of working on a busy news desk - both reading bulletins and reporting.
- Desirably you’ll have an interest and knowledge of sport especially Rugby League
