Digital and T.V News Producers The Forces Network is looking for Digital and TV Producers to work across our News platforms covering a range of military stories and international events.

In the same week you could be on a military exercise creating multi-platform video, helping produce our lunchtime or evening news programmes which are broadcast in the UK on Forces T.V and around the world, or be on your way to one of the 30 or so countries we travel to every year.

You will also research and write articles for our digital output, create social media stories and understand the latest creative and analytical trends for digital news.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their flexible, creative and imaginative approach in this role. They will know how to make the best use of pictures and audio, finding the best ways to maximise share-ability across platforms, and will be passionate about accuracy.

While an understanding of the armed forces is desirable, a knowledge of video production, the use of graphics, online and social media publishing is essential. We’re also very keen on people with experience in the news media or broadcast industry.

Among our objectives is the creation of a data-led newsroom, so an understanding of how analytics can inform our journalism could be winning advantage for at least one of these roles. Helping us use audience trends to connect with underserved audiences, increasing referrals to forces.net, supporting campaigns on social platforms participating in discussions on tracking and tagging can all be part of a producer’s role. Because of the nature of this team, you will need to be comfortable working to deadlines and at a fast pace. Technology and Defence Reporter/Producer Do you want to explain some of the best technology in the world to digital, TV, and radio audiences in the millions? Do you have the production and people skills to turn complex kit into successful digital video? Forces News is offering the chance to show off your talent as you explain complex defence tech and stories to a wide and engaged public. The successful candidate will be able to identify, set up, film and deliver multi-platform content that makes stories relevant to a serving audience and interesting to others. To get you thinking, you’ll know what makes the F35 a 5th generation fighter jet, and you’ll go away from this advert to look up who has hypersonic missiles and why it matters. You’ll be bursting with story ideas, treatments and good technical skills. You’ll need experience of editing video to deadlines and an understanding that in a digital first world video content has to engage from the first frame. We are looking for cross-platform reporters with broadcast news / digital experience, who are as happy producing an instagram story as they are making a piece for TV news.
A journalism qualification is essential, knowledge of the military would be an advantage. This position will be based on a mobile contract meaning UK and foreign travel are likely, while evening and weekend working are possible. Flexibility and a full driving licence are required. There may be a future opportunity and requirement to work overseas. Training will be provided for the use of our specific equipment.
