Due to internal promotion, UKRD are looking for a First Line Support Technician to join our small, friendly team to help us smoothly run our portfolio of commercial radio stations and digital agencies.

The Person

We’re are looking for a team player to to hit the ground running, supporting over 200 users and over 1000 client endpoints at the twelve sites of our business across the UK. You will have experience of Windows desktop support and preferably recent editions of the Windows Server operating system. This role is part of a small team serving the technical aspects and needs of the entire organisation.

You will need to be a dynamic technician who is keen to learn the varied aspects of our technology operation, including the excitement and challenges of live broadcast radio. You'll need excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills as well as a logical, problem solving mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle all incoming first line support requests from our internal teams by phone and through our ticketing system, escalating to our engineers for second and third line issues.

  • Support, monitor and maintain existing infrastructure, technologies and associated applications.

  • Update our internal documentation and knowledge base.

  • Maintain an overview of open support tickets across the business

  • General housekeeping of our systems to keep us in top form.

Note to candidates: the primary function of this role is to provide first line support, however there is ample scope for the successful applicant to develop in order to provide second and even third line support functions. Also there will be opportunities to become involved with project work and travel to other sites if you have an appetite for this. Essential Skills and Experience

  • Desktop support for Windows 7 and Windows 10

  • Microsoft Active Directory user management

  • Microsoft server operating systems: Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2016

  • Microsoft Office 2010/2013/2016

  • Ethernet, IP and Windows networking, DNS and DHCP

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Desktop support for Mac OS

  • Knowledge of Linux distributions

  • Group Policy and Remote Desktop Service

  • Configuration of routers, firewalls and VPN

  • Microsoft Hyper-V

  • Asterisk phone systems, VOIP and SIP

  • Cisco Meraki

  • Modern business connectivity

  • General cyber security

This is a permanent contract working 37.5 hours a week. You will have 26 days paid holiday plus bank holidays. The starting salary will be £16,000 - £18,000 depending on skills and experience.
