The Position :

More Radio is a big station covering a busy new patch. Our news team delivers original and creative journalism on a daily basis and we thrive on local stories. Our bulletins are full of local content and delivered with authority and style. We work at the heart of the communities we serve and we are never afraid to hold to account or champion those within them. We pride ourselves on our ability to remain local despite covering an extensive and demanding area, and we are looking to appoint a Worthing based reporter. The ideal candidate will need to be confident with social media skills, as well as having excellent contacts. You’ll have a good understanding of the complexity and variety that is in Sussex and be able to find and tell stories from the different communities. We need someone who can find those stories and can illustrate them with excellent case studies.

The Role Responsibility:

In this role, you will be reporting on, and engaging with local audiences. You will be working on both bulletins and the online digital output. Social media is also important so providing videos and other online content will also be essential but training would be available. There is a strong emphasis on originality and on breaking new ground, especially when telling peoples stories. You will be expected to build strong relationships with key community leaders with the aim of becoming the first point of contact. Based in Worthing you will be reporting to the senior local radio management team and will be expected to produce content quickly and flexibly. You’ll also need to be able to work independently.

The Ideal Candidate:

You will have good awareness of the local communities and have an understanding of working in radio with a well-developed understanding of digital and social media and the potential of mobile platforms. You will be able to demonstrate your creativity and have a proven track record in news judgment. You must have strong editorial judgment and legal training.
