Freelance Broadcast Journalist

A freelance and contract journalism job at Kingdom FM in Kirkcaldy
Posted 24 April 2019, 12.01pm edt

Kingdom FM is looking for freelance broadcast journalists to work a variety of shifts. Great local radio is at the core of everything we do and that includes local and engaging news and sport coverage.

We have thrown ourselves into rivers with the RNLI, traveled to Cyprus with the British Army, joined the police on drugs raids and slept on the streets of Edinburgh to bring original, engaging and informative journalism to our listeners.

The Ideal Candidate: Whether you’re ready to take your first step into professional broadcasting, or you're an experienced reporter, we want to hear from you. This is an ideal role if you’re newly qualified with an NCTJ/BJTC accredited degree (or similar) and ready to experience commercial radio first hand.

You’ll need a great broadcasting voice, a good nose for news, sharp writing skills, sound legal and regulatory knowledge and experience of various social media platforms. Knowledge of Burli is desirable. We start work early, so a full drivers licence and your own transport is essential.

What we can offer you: Based at our studios in Kirkcaldy, you will be an integral part of our News Team. You'll present hourly bulletins, interview contributors, write scripts, edit audio and forward plan during reporting and news-reading shifts. If you come to us with original story ideas, we'll help you turn it into informative, creative and engaging journalism.

This is an incredible opportunity to be part of a news team with a brilliant track record for training talented news broadcasters.

Shift rate is based on experience.

This job closed on 8 May, 2019 so we’re afraid you can no longer apply for this role.
