IT & Broadcast Engineer

Here at UKRD we’re looking for an engineer in the north of England to join our multi-skilled IT & Engineering team. The chances are, if you have read this far, you’re the person we’re looking for anyway! You’ll have experience of a live radio environment and have an interest and aptitude for all things tech.
If you know how to get back on air when your playout system fails, can make the right audio come out of the right bits of a mixing desk and do more than “turn it off and back on again” when your PC plays up, we’d love to talk to you!
The successful engineer will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the technology in various radio stations managed by UKRD Group, predominantly support of Stray FM in Harrogate, Minster FM in York and Yorkshire Coast Radio in Scarborough and you will be based at one of these radio stations. You’ll also be able to get your hands dirty at other Group sites and we will provide you with a car, laptop and mobile phone.
Your core duties will cover broadcast IT, office IT and engineering, as well as being part of the UKRD out of hours support rota providing 24hr technical cover for business critical systems across the whole group. Where there may be gaps in your knowledge, we have a widely skilled existing team who will support you throughout and complement your determination with their experience ensuring you become a valuable member of our team.
You will report to the Group IT and Engineering Manager and will be working closely alongside our existing IT & Engineering team. There may be times where periods working away are required to complete some project work or to cover for or assist other engineers.
You should have an understanding of radio and its associated technologies, playout systems, Windows desktop & server and IP networking. If you enjoy working with friendly, professional people with a bit of fun thrown in, please get in touch.
