Station Sound and Music Coordinator, with planned career progression

The British Forces broadcaster is looking for a talented and multi-skilled Music and Station Sound Coordinator to join our brilliant team. Although starting at this level, there is the possibility of clear career progression into management within the first 12 months for the right candidate. If you’re excited about the prospect of moulding an excellent music offering and top-notch station sound, to make a positive difference to the morale of our audience, then this is a unique career opportunity.

We want you to help to shape our sound within our 70% music, 30% speech format. The audience is a community of interest (the UK armed services and their families) with a core demographic of 18 to 35 with a slight male skew. We have a variety of stations, locally and nationally in the UK as well as overseas.

To be successful in this role you will already be adept at scheduling music across multiple channels using Autotrack 4 software and will have experience of liaising with PRS and PPL. You will be used to forging and maintaining professional relationships with music labels, industry organisations and presentation teams. You’ll be a natural collaborator, able to identify and work with internal and external stakeholders, adapting your style when necessary. You’ll also be an exemplary sound producer, for music, promos and imaging purposes and you’ll be able to explain what ‘good’ sounds like. Radio presentation skills are desirable but not essential.

You will be able to demonstrate that you’re resourceful, innovative, flexible and reliable, with bags of creativity and enthusiasm, and will have an excellent command of written and spoken English.

This job is based at our HQ near Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire, but there may be the opportunity to travel and be posted long term overseas to places like Canada, Germany, Gibraltar and Cyprus.

We ask a lot of our staff. In return, we’ll give you the chance to influence our future and develop your abilities in a creative, non-commercial, ideas-led environment. There will be plenty of support to develop your talents to their fullest potential and to share your skills and experience with us. We have a generous leave scheme, a 6% employer contribution to a fully portable pension plan, subsidised accommodation if working overseas and a range of salary and other benefits we’d be happy to chat to you more about.

For the right candidate – this is a rare opportunity to contribute to the production of exceptional radio for an extraordinary audience with a huge opportunity to swiftly fast-track into a management role.
