A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the role of News Editor at Surrey and Hampshire’s most listened-to commercial radio station.

Eagle Radio is a market leader, with 258,000 listeners (predicted 13-week reach – RAJAR Q2 2017) and six million people visiting our website in the last 12 months alone.

We know one of our unique selling points is providing top quality local news and we pride ourselves on being the first place people in the area go to get that.

The role of News Editor puts you at the forefront of a growing part of our business and you will be leading a team of skilled and experienced journalists in a busy patch.

Key responsibilities:

Setting the news agenda Generating original content both for on air and online Writing, compiling and delivering news bulletins for Eagle Radio and, on occasion, some sister stations Conducting interviews and producing news packages Managing the staff and freelance rota Leading the news team as we strive to increase our audience on air and online Key competencies:

Sound editorial judgement and legal knowledge A keen eye for detail An ability to work well under pressure A good knowledge of the news agenda in the patch we cover A broad knowledge of the issues that affect our listeners A strong broadcasting voice and ability to use Burli Experience of using cms systems is desirable The ability to lead others We are part of the UKRD group and have a strong company culture.
