Presenters

A freelance and contract programming job at 107.5 Switch Radio in Birmingham, United Kingdom
Posted 28 May 2015, 5.07am edt

This job is not paid

Hello, is it you we're looking for? (Sorry, we love the 80s).

We're currently looking for presenters to help us spice up our daytime schedule. Experience isn't necessarily essential because we'll give you all the training you need and to help you get started. What is essential is enthusiasm, commitment and the desire to make great radio. As a community station, unfortunately, we can't pay you. However, we'll plough you full of biscuits, tea and the occasional cake. While we would (of course) prefer live presenters, we have some scope for recorded shows.

So, who are we? 107.5 Switch Radio broadcasts to North East Birmingham, which encompasses some of the most deprived communities in the UK. Despite regeneration efforts, 49% of the population in our service area live in regions that still feature amongst the top 10% most deprived wards in the UK. Almost three-quarters of our service area live in regions that feature amongst the top 20% most deprived regions in the UK. As such, the objective for Switch Radio is two-fold; firstly, to use the platform of community radio to entertain, inform and engage and involve the local community with us and each other. Secondly, we provide hands-on training and media experience to help local people do something practical about unemployment, skills training, education and social isolation.

To achieve this aim, we provide live and locally relevant daytime programming, delivered by entirely by local volunteers and encouraging listener interaction. In the evenings, we hand the station over to our capable specialist presenters whose shows cover musical genres that are currently underserved by local commercial and BBC radio operations.

This job closed on 24 June, 2015 so we’re afraid you can no longer apply for this role.
