SPORTS PRODUCER/ASSISTANT

A part-time creative job at NE1fm 102.5 in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Posted 24 August 2015, 9.22pm edt

This job is not paid

Do you have a passion for all sports?

Are you comfortable in a studio environment, and occasionally going on air?

Do you have the drive to work closely within a team, while scores and updates are coming in thick and fast?

NE1fm 102.5 is a community station run by volunteers in the heart of Newcastle & Gateshead, and we have been encouraging involvement from Tyneside since 2007 to make great local radio.

We are looking to expand a talented team to work with our main sports anchor, Rob Pears, to deliver a fast sports and reports service. Rob is fully blind, but is fully capable of presenting once his setup is in place within the studio.

Although the position is voluntary, this is the perfect opportunity for anybody looking to get involved in the media industry.

No experience is necessary, and training will be provided. The role is Saturday afternoons, with the occasional Sunday for certain events. There is also an opportunity to help out at the radio station and to get involved in events.

Roles include:

  • Tech-opping in the studio: loading music and jingles into the playlist
  • Monitoring developments from the football leagues, and other sporting events
  • Building a rapport with local clubs – both professional and at grass roots level, and arranging interviews with players/staff to be broadcast on the show
  • Updating social media
This job closed on 11 September, 2015 so we’re afraid you can no longer apply for this role.
