Job Description

At SBW Advertising we are looking for a professional, friendly and proactive apprentice to join our growing account management (agency-side) team here in Cardiff.

Become an apprentice at SBW Advertising and you will join an experienced and talented account handling team – who with your help will service and deliver all our clients’ advertising needs. In return you’ll get a taste of the fast-paced and exciting world of advertising and build up an understanding of online and offline media in the process.

Day-to-day your role will involve answering telephone calls in a professional and helpful manner, filing, administration, desk research and some of the more fun creative stuff. You’ll also play an active and integral role in our social media output, creating and posting exciting and engaging content to our followers. Shadowing some of our Account Executives you will also get involved with other important jobs and processes like proof reading and although not part of the creative team, you’ll be encouraged to take part in brainstorms and see how a brief is constructed, how this is briefed in and if the chance arises, how we’d present this to the client. There is nothing more exciting and rewarding than seeing something you have worked on being shown in all its glory on a billboard, in the newspaper, on social media, the radio or even on the TV!

Working week: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5:30pm (with 1-hour lunch break)

Future Prospects:

You will gain vital experience in the Advertising industry, especially in the South Wales region and South West region of England, which will help you with future applications and getting a job in the future in this sector or other office based administration roles. A full-time job with SBW Advertising following the apprenticeship may be possible for outstanding apprentices depending on if a vacancy becomes available.

Skills Required:

No experience is necessary as full training will be provided but ideally you will have the following: Great communication skills and can-do attitude Good literacy and numeracy skills Basic computer skills Friendly personality

Skills desired: Bilingual Welsh speaker

Personal Qualities Required: To be able to work in a busy and sometimes challenging environment To be interested in the advertising industry or would like to pursue an office based career Always be professional Commitment to the job and excellent time keeping Qualifications Required:

Good literacy and numeracy skills required. Applicants will have a minimum of GCSE C grades Maths and English or equivalent.

Important other information:

You are expected to be Smart casual, no hoodies, collared-shirt and smarter if clients are in the office. Office hours are 9am – 5:30pm, based at Castle Court, Cardiff (parking not available on site) with up to 1-hour lunch break.

Allowance of 20 days holiday per year (allow 3 days for Christmas). You will be expected to find your own way to and from work at your own expense.

Your first 3 months of your time at SBW will be under a probation period and after this time you will have a review. This review will be looking back at the work you’ve helped with and completed so far and seeing how you can progress further within the agency.

Framework

Whilst working for SBW Advertising you will be completing a 15-month Higher Level (4) Apprenticeship in Advertising and Marketing Communications.

Wage

The exact salary for this role is the National Minimum Apprentice Allowance, which is £3.40 per hour for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship. Those aged 19 years or over will be eligible for at least the National Minimum Wage for their age group once their first 12 months as an Apprentice has been completed.
