FOUR MEN AND a woman have been arrested this morning in connection with the murder of former real IRA chief Aidan O’Driscoll.
Aidan O’Driscoll (37) was fatally shot on Old Commons Road, Cork on Wednesday 7 December 2016.
O’Driscoll – known as ‘The Beast’ – was taken to Cork University Hospital where he as later pronounced dead.
Two partially burnt-out cars were found in different locations nearby – one on Redemption Road in Blackpool and the other in Killeens.
Three men in their 20s are being detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Mayfield, Gurranabraher and Bridewell Garda stations.
A man in his 70s and a female in her 20s are currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Togher Garda station.
These are the first arrests in the investigation.

It kind of annoys me the way these people can still cling on to the title IRA, like they have some sort of a cause or political agenda. They do not!
He was a piece of dirt involved in crime and most probably drugs. Good riddance.
I wish the media would give these lads and their groups nicknames instead of the IRA.

@Lord Clanricarde: I wonder who owns the title “IRA”… Is it the Pro-Treaty Free State National Army, Oglaigh na hEireann, or the Anti-Treaty IRA, or the Official IRA or the Provisional IRA, or maybe the Continuity IRA, or the Anti-GFA IRA? Old IRA, New IRA.
