News publisher Reach plc is surveying its readers on attitudes to disability in an initiative designed to coincide with the Paralympics.
The ‘Represent the 24%’ survey is being carried across Reach’s portfolio of national and regional titles.
The publisher want to hear readers’ opinions on how society views and treats disabled people, how they’re represented in the media, and how its titles should be covering the issue.

Simon Pitney, agency lead at Reach said: “Our ‘represent the 24%’ survey marks another step forward in our efforts to accurately reflect under-represented communities across the UK.
“Initially conceived as part of our Generation Valuable commitments and incorporated into our Belonging Project initiative this survey has been the product of collaboration across the business.
“The central premise is that it’s vital for our content to reach, and resonate with the communities that we serve – disabled people make up 24% of the population and thus it’s imperative that our content whether about them, by them or supporting them is useful and relevant.
“The hope is that taking real insight from our audience we will be better equipped and more knowledgeable in how to meet our aims.”
