Sales Negotiator

A full-time sales job at Isle of Wight Observer Ltd in Isle of Wight

The Island’s locally owned, weekly newspaper the Isle of Wight Observer are looking to add to our sales team.

As with any position within the media, your role will vary, but on a day-to-day basis, you will have a number of responsibilities, which will include, but not be limited to:

Introducing clients to our brand-new paper and helping them to choose appropriate advertising space within the Isle of Wight Observer.

Researching the correct contacts within a business, so you know who manages the marketing. Understanding and being able to explain the benefits of the Isle of Wight Observer in a clear, concise and straightforward manner.

The role will be based on working approximately 37 hours a week. There will be times though when you may have to do additional hours with a later finishing time on press day.

Travelling to meet clients and introduce yourself to new prospects around the Island will be essential. Throughout the six-month probation period, you will need to have your own transport and a full clean driving license, with a view to receiving a company car once the probation period has passed.

The right candidate will receive a generous basic salary together with an achievable commission structure.

Academic qualifications are not vital for this role. We are looking for someone with the attitude and ability who will meet deadlines, hit targets and deliver results. You will spend two weeks gaining experience and learning about business, without being under pressure to achieve sales. After this you’ll be expected to be able to join in and take the lead

To be suitable for this role you must:

  • Have a proven track record of being able to attract new business.
  • Be polite and of smart appearance.
  • Have a full clean driving license and own transport.
  • Have a confident, outgoing personality.
  • Be able to work under pressure, hit deadlines and meet targets.
  • Have good timekeeping skills.
