Good Homes, the much loved homes and interiors magazine, has recorded another strong ABC performance in the period from January to June 2016.
The announcement, made by the Audit Bureau of Circulations, reported a period-on-period and year-on-year ABC increase of 3.1% and 0.9%, respectively – an impressive accomplishment in the publishing sector as Good Homes being one of only six home interest titles to record such a performance.
Media 10, publisher of Good Homes and other nine publications, attributes this strong ABC performance to continued significant investment in the magazine since its acquisition from Kelsey Media in late 2014. The recent figures also show Good Homes subscriptions rose a staggering 66% year-on-year.
The title, a household name and a strong brand with thousands of subscribers, has been revitalised to comprise a larger format, extra pages, more editorial content, a fresh look, more exclusive readers offers and supplements; a approach started and overseen by Lisa Allen, who was Editor at Good Homes under the ownership of the BBC in its height of sales in the 1990s.
Lisa is now Editor-in-Chief of Grand Designs Magazine, another Media 10 title; and Good Homes is currently under the leadership of Editor Karen Walker.
Editor Karen Walker says: ‘I am delighted with our impressive results in the recent ABC review. In a highly competitive home interest market, which is showing year-on-year and period-on-period declines, Good Homes has remained strong and continues to grow. We’ve invested heavily in our editorial, marketing partnerships and brand awareness over the last year – particularly with the success of our fantastic roomsets at the Ideal Home Show in March – subsequently delivering greater value, ideas and style to our readers. As a result, our retail presence continues to widen, sales are increasing, and Good Homes subscriptions have risen by a huge 66% year-on-year. It truly is a pleasure to be taking over as editor of Britain’s fastest-growing homes magazine.’
Media 10, which also publishes Grand Designs, Icon, onOffice and Gurgle magazines, are committed to the long-term investment and development of Good Homes. There has also been a very active strategic marketing plan across newsstand, subscription initiatives and sampling operations at key targeted events.
Commenting on the recent announcement, Lee Newton, CEO of publisher Media 10 says: “The teams at Media 10 have proved to be very good at combining the strengths of magazines, live events and digital to increase subscriptions and copy sales of all of its publishing portfolio and at the same time forging brand loyalty to increase its overall revenue streams.”
