Greg Parke

Born in the Northern Irish town of Larne, Co. Antrim in 1973 Greg Parke is a former National UK Radio broadcaster / DJ having worked for Long Wave Radio ATLANTIC 252. His career began in 1990 working part time for various pirate radio stations in the North East of Ireland. On October 1st 1994 he launched his own station (Energy Radio) across Co. Meath which marked his excursion into full time broadcasting. He moved to Berlin in 1998 to work for RTL 104.6 (Berlins No.1 Hit music station) until an offer he couldn't refuse came from super pirate KISS 106 back in Ireland to present Breakfast.

Breakfast at Kiss lasted one year until John O' Hara (station PD) at ATLANTIC 252 hired him in the same week of first hearing him! By July 2000 Greg the tide changed again with an offer to work full time at Q102 in Northern Ireland. This was (as he put it at the time) his ticket home. His first shows or gigs were overnight's until he felt he was ready to settle into evenings from 6pm till 9pm. He was the new kid on the block but with a lot of ideas which lead to massive listening figures and even higher than the Breakfast show by 2004! In January 2005 Greg was moved to Breakfast and just like his breakfast shows on Energy Radio and Kiss 106 he immediately stood out and won the Big Buzz Award for Best Breakfast Show Ireland 2005. The other contenders were Rick O' Sea from Irelands RTE 2fm and Maurice Jay from Belfast station Citybeat.

In 2006 Greg joined 7FM in Ballymena to present the drive home and as 'Head of Music'. He later became 'Group Head of Music' until 2009. In 2010 he took a career break to focus on raising a family. He is married since 2010 and has two children (a boy and girl) while his wife pursues her career. He has been heard on Downtown radio but is rarely on the radio now choosing his family and a quieter life for the time being. He currently lives just outside Derry city enjoying his rekindled hobby from the late 80s as a keen Radio Ham operator having passed various Ofcom exams. He is still on-air all over the world but not in the way the public was use to..... for the time being!

Greg is a Presenter at Q Radio 102.9.
