FREELANCE VIDEO PRODUCER

A freelance and contract journalism job at Blue Ocean Network in Anywhere
Posted 20 May 2015, 5.41am edt

Work with the top global news agencies on varied China video content! Competitive salary.

Blue Ocean Network is looking to cooperate with Freelance Video Producers on a wide variety of China content. The primary production focus is on business, technology, travel, art and fashion, health and lifestyle in China, which will be licensed worldwide via BON’s own network and its content partner, the Associated Press.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Producing insightful, sharable, innovative China content in news feature format to be watched by tens of millions of western viewers, both online, on TV, and via international news wire services.
  • You are expected to complete the production process independently to produce both high and low budget video content according to briefs delivered by the production director.
  • Working for a co-production project with the world-leading news agencies, you need to be equipped with a sharp sense of news value (precisely "soft news") and are able to develop a holistic strategy for gathering brilliant ideas, offering insightful perspective.

QUALIFICATIONS Considerable work experience in TV/video production (or at least 3-10 years work experience in a TV/video production or broadcasting institution) is required. Previous experience working with AP, Reuters or AFP is a huge plus. We’re looking for someone who is very innovative and experienced with “hands on” work – comfortable both producing and thinking on a very high/strategic level, but who can also shoot pieces when given the proper support. Experience with editing and post-production workflows is a must. Native-English speaking professionals are preferred and because the content generated will be almost entirely China-related, written and spoken (Mandarin) Chinese is a big advantage.
