The Production Assistant (Broadcasting) is required to support the producer and Head of Department and be responsible for the administration and organisation involved in producing a TV programme and all supporting projects. The successful candidate will be results driven and thrive in a busy, fast paced environment and have the ability to communicate with senior management, colleagues as well as high profile guests and associates. THE ROLE: Production Assistant(Broadcasting)

Due to the successful growth and expansion of Islam Channel and in line with our long term strategy, we are recruiting for a creative, strategic and motivated Production Assistant (Broadcasting) to play a pivotal role within the company. To work effectively to ensure all content is thoroughly researched and meets Islam Channel’s editorial standards.

To undertake independent research to a broad or specific brief, using all sources of reference, both internal and external, including proper note-taking.

Such research may involve either a journalistic or academic approach, and may involve finding and contacting individuals and organisations; finding locations for filming; identifying and selecting stock shots and film clips; making a preliminary selection of suitable material and music.

Evaluate research in terms of programme aims and intentions and write persuasive treatments and concise briefs on potential stories and contributors for both directors and expert presenters

To be involved in researching and setting up filming, including the identification of suitable programme contributors, locations and storylines, working closely at all times to the editorial brief of the Producer. To recce people and places in advance of filming and, where appropriate, negotiate access.

To script material effectively. Breaks script into scenes and formulate a shooting schedule that is cost effective economically

To communicate effectively and build strong relationships with contributors, presenters and experts.

To direct crews or direct shoots creatively and efficiently on location in the UK and/or abroad as and when required.

Prepare rehearsal and production schedule for events, shows, design of sets and technical rehearsals

To prepare effectively for edits and, where necessary, offline edit creatively and efficiently in the available time and within the allotted budget.

To proactively embrace new technologies, new ways of working and innovation.

To write commentary script, direct commentary recordings and supervise aspects of post-production, attending the dub and programme online as appropriate.

To create and manage filming schedules in close liaison with members of the Production Management team.

To communicate effectively with the production team and the Producer and Head of Department to ensure that all are kept fully informed of developments and requirements at every stage of production. To carry out all duties in accordance with Health and Safety regulations ensuring necessary equipment, props and technical staff are on set when required

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 – 2 years previous relevant experience (however media graduates seeking an opportunity to enter the industry may be considered).

QUALIFICATIONS: Degree or Postgraduate Qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business Development or other relevant qualifications
