TV Reporter / Video Journalist

A full-time journalism job at That's Hampshire in Basingstoke
Posted 30 April 2017, 5.49pm edt

Don’t apply for this job if your ambition is to create bland promotional videos, ‘rip and read’ news bulletins or re-edit wire copy.

If you want to front your own news reports on TV and help produce a daily news-led magazine on terrestrial TV then please read on.

North Hampshire is one of the best places to live in the UK but is missing one thing most important to drive a sense of community – television news. Almost nowhere in the country is less well catered for by traditional regional television.

That’s why That’s TV is excited to soon be launching That’s Hampshire on Freeview channel 7 (the old BBC Three slot) and Virgin Media channel 159.

That’s Hampshire will, for the first time on TV, cover local issues and hold those in authority to account.

That’s Hampshire now seeks to recruit TV reporters dedicated to finding the stories that nobody else covers – stories that may then get picked up by other media because they are so moving or impactful. Your biggest reports and features will be picked up by other That’s TV stations in the South of England and contribute to news stories on all BBC platforms under the terms of That’s TV’s news share agreement.

That’s Hampshire will sit bang in the middle of That’s TV’s southern cluster of local TV stations so this is a chance to put into practice your video journalism skills surrounded by a team of other great journalists.

This is the best opportunity to launch your career as a TV reporter / video journalist. Ability to self-plan, shoot and edit great news packages to deadlines is essential. There will also be opportunities to develop your wider TV production skills and to present on-screen.

This job closed on 19 May, 2017 so we’re afraid you can no longer apply for this role.
