New role for Orion Media's Phil Riley

Phil Riley, Founder and Chairman of Orion Media, the Midlands based commercial radio group, has been appointed non-executive Chairman of Koala TV, the Midlands and London based television and digital production company which produces premium quality commercials to all media outlets.
Riley’s appointment heralds an ambitious gear change for Koala TV. Whilst many other Midlands based production companies have disappeared in recent years, Koala is thriving and has built up a blue chip client base such as Amex Global Business Travel, Mazuma Mobile and Hillarys, as well as a host of SME clients tapping into Koala’s skill base to rapidly expand their own brands. The Koala teams now operate from St Paul’s Square in Birmingham and its recently opened offices in the heart of London’s Soho.
Phil Riley said: “I’m excited to be taking on the Chairman role at Koala. The company is perfectly poised to develop in the rapidly growing market for digital screen-based commercial messaging, and I hope I can bring my business experience to the table in order to allow Phil Brice and his team to grow Koala and fulfil their ambitions within the sector.”
Koala TV was founded by Phil Brice nearly 20 years ago, originally operating as a TV productioncompany specialising in providing high quality TV advertisements. However as consumption has increased to other platforms such as phones and tablets, Koala TV has broadened its horizons to enable it to manage all forms of advertising for all media, using a variety of specialist techniques including photo-realistic animation (also known as CGI), live shooting, character animation and programmatic advertising. The company has doubled its turnover in the last two years alone.
Brice, an industry veteran with over 40 years experience in advertising, television and radio broadcasting, is a former radio presenter for Wolverhampton’s Beacon FM. He was also the Founder of The Sound and Picturehouse, a TV commercial production company in Birmingham, whose clients included ITV Central, before selling the company in 1997.
