New CAP/SMMT data released by Digital Radio UK show that 450,000 new car registrations had digital radio as standard in Q1 2015.

DAB is standard in 61.1% of new cars, and 21.8% of new commercial vehicles, according to figures shared by industry body Digital Radio UK.

The 450,000 new cars with DAB included represents an increase of 29% year-on-year - over 100,000 more than the same quarter last year.

March is the largest registration month of the year; and March alone accounted for 300,000 new cars with DAB as standard.

Digital Radio UK also report that the majority of vans from Ford and Vauxhall now come with digital radio as standard; they account for 37% of UK van sales. The Ford Courier, above, is the What Van? Small van of the Year 2015.

Digital Radio UK announced today new radio commercials promoting the 'tick mark', an industry approval scheme.
