A selection of popular Australian podcasts including AFL Nation, The Slow Home podcast, The Alan Jones Breakfast Show, Thinkergirl, Wilosophy and 300 other shows hosted on Omny Studio will be included in Spotify’s growing podcast catalogue which can be played through the Spotify desktop, iPhone, Android and web apps.
Podcasts now available on Spotify include those from TOFOP, Kinderling Kids Radio, SYN Community Radio, Thinkergirl, J-Air Radio, Jackrabbit.FM, Crocmedia and Macquarie Media. Omny Studio will continue to work with Spotify to expand the selection with new up and coming Australian podcasters.
Spotify has recently been making greater strides into the podcasting space. This partnership marks the latest in a series of decisive steps by the streaming giant to expand its audio offerings in the APAC market.
“There is such fantastic content being made by Australian podcasters at the moment” said Sharon Taylor, CEO of Omny Studio. Citing the quality of shows hosted on their platform as the key driver for the partnership, she says “Omny is excited to add such a strong amplification channel to our platform at a time when podcast awareness in Australia is at an all-time high.”
Spotify is the most popular music streaming service in Australia currently, with 21% of Australians using the service weekly according to Edison’s latest Share of Ear survey.
Spotify is now available in 60 markets globally with more than 140 million active users (at June 2017), and over 60 million paying subscribers (Aug 2017).
