Manchester’s airwaves will see the launch of the new rock and lifestyle station, XS Manchester, formerly Real XS, next month.

XS Manchester, which launches on Monday 7th March, will see new faces join the existing presenter line up plus some exciting new shows. The station will also be home to the brand new Legends Football Social – Manchester’s premier nightly football phone in with Manchester United legend, Alex Stepney and Manchester City hero, Paul Lake hosting the show which is guaranteed to thrill and wind up football fans across the city in equal measure.

Producer, actor and comedian, Justin Lee Collins is just one of the new voices confirmed to appear on the station with two brand new shows. Justin comments on his arrival to the team;

“I wanna rock! And now I can at XS Manchester! I can't wait to be a part of this awesome team. It's a dream come true. Playing the music I love, in one of the best cities in the world.

Rock on and let the GOOD TIMES roll! (Double air grab).”

Amongst the shows, XS Manchester will broadcast live breakfast and drive shows as well the Legends Football Social between 6-7pm on weekdays. At the weekend, XS Manchester will have specialist programming including sport, comedy, new rock, hard rock, guest take overs and Non-stop Party with XS All Areas.

Manchester favourite, Steve Berry talks about his role at XS Manchester; “I've had some good jobs - including one I never talk about - but this is undoubtedly the best. Playing records, giving stuff away and chatting to listeners. The only way it could get any better is if they decided to put the word 'Manchester' in the name. Oh, they just did”.

XS Manchester Launch Station Director Ande Macpherson talks about the music policy for the new station; “For too long radio has boxed rock music into small genre boxes. XS Manchester changes all of that. If it’s a great rock song then we will play it. From Muse to Metallica, from Beatles to Beastie Boys, from Oasis to Ozzy, from AC/DC to Automatic, from Sex Pistols to Smiths and from David Lee Roth to David Bowie. Our mission is simple, to make sure every time you turn us on we let the good times roll.”

XS Manchester is available across Greater Manchester on 106.1FM, online and mobile.
