Vista Radio, the local radio company in Canada with 44 radio stations broadcasting via 64 transmitters across three Provinces and the Northwest Territories, completed its fourth annual Million Dollars Charity Drive with an overall goal of generating one million dollars for local charities.
With all fundraising efforts focused on the week ending December 10th, each Vista Radio station selected its own local charity to support. Hometown charities from food banks to churches and from hospital foundations to soup kitchens were supported. Vista Radio stations across the country and over 300 Vista Radio staff gave of themselves to help families in the cities and towns in which they live.
The response from our communities was heartfelt and overwhelming. The broadcaster ended the week with donations in food, cash and toys totalling CA$1,400,000 (USD$1.1m). This money will now go to work within the over 44 charity groups Vista Radio worked with this year.
“With more than 5 million dollars in donations generated since 2014, Vista's Million Dollar Charity Drive is the pinnacle of our year and further underscores our community commitment in each of our markets. Our record breaking year this year is a testament to the generosity of our listeners and the efforts of our staff.” said Geoff Poulton, President of Vista Radio.
“At Vista Radio we love the Million Dollar Charity Drive. I’m always amazed at the generosity of the people who live in our communities across the country. This is a very special week for all of us at Vista Radio.” said Murray Brookshaw, National Director of Programming.
