The Content Director will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the company’s On Air (broadcast) and digital (web/social) output including creative and editorial leadership. The role will lead, develop and implement the company’s overall content strategy. This person will be responsible for delivering the largest possible target audience and assist with the growth of the company in line with the overall financial, broadcast and digital KPI’s. The Content Director role is for a highly motivated individual with a passion for radio and digital media. The successful candidate will have a proven record of senior level team management, talent development and should be able to demonstrate results in established markets. This position is full time managerial position and will include attendance at relevant events, and industry-specific conferences. Responsibilities Spin 1038’s strategy is underpinned by strong measurement and evaluation. The Content Director will be required to develop and maintain a culture where people feel challenged, rewarded, respected and empowered to ‘win’ in a way that underpins the values and objectives of the brand, station strategy and delivers the company’s overall performance. The following are some the key responsibilities of the Content Director.
- Overall responsibility to ensure the output is within the BAI Programming Policy Statement and conforms to all broadcasting & copyright legislation and to all codes from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, ASAI or any other competent authority.
- Continuous research and development of the Broadcast and Digital product and delivery of target audience and goals in line with the companies KPI’.
- Focus on information and data metrics in addition to industry innovations including new tools, platforms and technologies.
- Proactively leading, motivating and managing people & talent to ensure the abilities of each member of the programming team are fully utilised.
- Ensuring new talent, ideas and programmes are developed, while refreshing and maintaining the vitality of established output.
- A strong commercial knowledge and you will be required to work creatively with sales to deliver market leading solutions to maximise promotion and sponsorship opportunities and revenue.
- Leading the management team in the area of programming.
- Development and maintenance of relationships with strategic partners.
- Operation of software and systems. Be aware of all major projects and technical issues that affect the on-air team, including studios, IT, OBs, etc
- A strong working knowledge of RCS Selector / Master Control (or equivalent) will be required. You will work with the Music Director to ensure the station music policy is appeals to widest possible target audience.
- Representation of the stations brand values at all times.
- Overseeing all content broadcast and/or published including social / digital channels.
- Oversee and manage production department including all station sound and imaging.
- Updating the management team of developments and results achieved.
Key Experience and Skills
- Senior level programming and music programming experience
- Strong editorial judgement across all areas of content including current affairs
- Senior level digital & social media experience
- Strong Leadership skills
- A strong ability to drive innovation and creativity
- Management of the workflow between the creative and commercial teams
- Experience and understanding of managing budgets
- Experience in creating, publishing and interpreting target audience research including AMT, JNLR, weekly music testing etc
- The ability to operate in a demanding creative and analytical environment
- Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how content works on different streaming and social media platforms (Spin1038.com, iTunes, Spotify, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Periscope, etc.)
- Display ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written presentations and video formats.
- Strong administration skills and reporting ability
- Someone who exceeds at building and maintaining relationships, internally and externally.
- A team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary.
