Producer - Asian Network (part time)

A part-time programming job at Somethin' Else in London
Posted 12 October 2016, 1.37pm edt

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced radio producer to take on the production of Mim Shaikh’s show on BBC Asian Network. This will be a part time role, based at our offices in Old Street, and the BBC – New Broadcasting House.

Mim Shaikh’s show broadcasts live every Thursday night, from 9pm-12am on BBC Asian Network. The focus of the show is the Shaikh debate – an hour of the show dedicated to the most pressing topics for the young audience. This can take a variety of forms – from a debate, to an interview, to spoken word performances.

Key skills: Very strong editorial judgement – the nature of the show means that debates can become heated and you will be confident making decisions around and managing these in a live studio environment. Live network radio experience at producer level, preferably for the BBC or experience as a broadcast journalist in a live radio studio setting. An excellent understanding of the evolving nature of the young British Asian audience. Very strong talent management skills. Passionate about and have a good knowledge of a wide range of music, particularly RnB, Hip-Hop and Grime. Excellent contacts and guest booking skills, within the relevant areas for the show. Creative flair and a thirst for exploring new ground.

This role is part time, for 2 days per week. Outside of the show broadcast hours, there is flexibility on when these hours can be worked.

This job closed on 21 October, 2016 so we’re afraid you can no longer apply for this role.
