Radio Show Host - Sputnik News UK

Our mission is to tell the untold: digging deep to bring to our audience unreported issues and stories, as well as angles and context that are missed by other media. We are looking for a charismatic, lively host for our new radio station opening soon in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of brand new media organisation in Scotland’s capital, where we will give an alternative perspective on the news affecting people’s lives in the UK.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should have experience in hosting and producing radio programs, excellent communication skills, be flexible and able to work on a multi-media platform. The individual should be creative and be able to generate new ideas for stimulating radio programmes. Equally of interest is a charismatic and enthusiastic radio professional with a ready-to-launch show focusing on news, economics, international affairs, or political satire. An engaging, outgoing and upbeat personality is exactly what we are looking for.

Role Responsibility

Prepare radio programs as well as written content, visual images, audio material and video footage for our website and social media platforms.

Establish a relationship with listeners by providing news/information of interest to a UK audience

Handle emergency inserts (e.g. news updates and breaking stories); be ready for possible disasters and breaking news.

Be socially informed and up-to-date with national and international trends

Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations and personalities and be able to adapt to changes in schedules and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

In addition to a creative and engaging personality, the successful candidate should possess the following:

University degree (preferably related subject)

Highly proficient IT and social networking skills

Native level of English with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to make others feel comfortable and open up on air

Be a team player

Right to work in the UK
