Jazz FM has today announced a stellar line up for Christmas - featuring programmes presented by Jacqui and Alec Dankworth, Grammy Award Winning bassist Marcus Miller and soul legend Candi Staton. Jamie Crick brings his Christmas Day Request show joining Jazz FM’s favourites Helen Mayhew, Sarah Ward and James Torme with their regular programmes all featuring a festive twist.

Christmas Eve starts with Vinny Marino’s TransAtlantic Jazz, from beneath the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York (pictured).

On Christmas Day, the station welcomes Christmas Day with The Dankworths as the next generation in Jacqui and Alec – both musicians in their own right – present three hours of hand-picked music, direct from The Stables – the jazz venue in Milton Keynes that mum and dad Cleo and John founded back in 1970.

Jamie Crick returns to Jazz FM with two hours packed full of listener, presenter and musician requests with “Christmas Day Requests”.

Marcus Miller, the Grammy winning bassist who is not only a star in his own right but has also worked with jazz legends like Miles Davis, Luther Vandross, Herbie Hancock and Dizzy Gillespie presents a special Christmas Day edition of “Dinner Jazz” to help the roast turkey and Taylor’s Port really hit the spot.

Finally, a week later on New Year’s Eve, the station’s “Funky Sensation” brand returns for 8 hours of jazz funk and soul hosted by Jeff Young, John Osborne and Mike Vitti along with a guest spot for soul diva Candi Staton who will see in the new year.

Nick Pitts, Jazz FM’s Content Director said “we are delighted that some of the most prestigious artists are joining us to present brilliant programmes over the holidays. I’m looking forward to giving our listeners the opportunity to spend Christmas with these tremendous people”.
