Facts and stats

Launched in 1976 as "More Music" 3MP, the station spent much of its life with 'beautiful music' and classic hits/oldies formats, first being sold to Wesgo Communications in 1987, then to Southern Cross Broadcasting in 1995.

In 2001, the station was sold to Data & Commerce Limited, now Pacific Star. 3MP's oldies format remained until 2010, when the station relaunched as MTR 1377 - Melbourne Talk Radio - under a joint venture with Sydney's Macquarie Radio Network. While the joint-venture ultimately ended in administration, the 'old' 3MP format lived on through MyMP on DAB+ digital radio, returning to the 1377AM frequency in 2012.

Reverting to the 3MP brand in July 2015, the station would again relaunch at 12:00am on October 26, 2016 as Classic Rock Radio - a nod to the former Southern Cross Austereo station of the same name.
