Job Role: Freelance Broadcast Journalist

Location: Wolverhampton (Signal 107)

You will be working in our Wolverhampton studios broadcasting across the West Midlands, North Worcestershire and Shropshire, filling shifts across the week and weekend on an ad hoc basis.

The role is desk based and involves turning around copy to tight deadlines, responding quickly to breaking news and creating news lines and engaging audio clips from guests across our network.

We are looking for people who are passionate about news, who can use their initiative to produce first-class stories and have an outstanding broadcasting voice.

You will need:

  • A journalism qualification (NCTJ or Degree)
  • Great voice and writing skills
  • Strong working knowledge of media law
  • Experience of working on a radio/TV news desk - both reading bulletins and reporting.
  • Ideally, you’ll have an interest and working knowledge of sport.
  • Knowledge and previous use of Burli software would be an advantage
