The station was known as Free Radio 80s, Gold and other local brands on AM such as Xtra AM in Birmingham and Coventry.

The station as Free Radio 80s closed and flipped to 105.2 FM, which was previously the home of Kerrang! Radio, Planet Rock and Absolute Radio before becoming Greatest Hits Radio in 2019.
